The alimex GmbH Precision in Aluminium, based in Willich, was founded in 1970 by Helmut Geller and repeatedly sets technological standards in the processing of aluminium cast plates.
On Sunday, October 14, WELT reported how alimex manages the US punitive tariffs that have been applied to aluminium imports since June 2018. The extra tariffs have created more business opportunities for alimex and that alimex have planned further investments in their US factory.

The Wallstreet Journal reported on October 26 the impact of Donald Trump’s punitive tariffs on the US aluminium industry. One aspect of the article is the reaction of German companies to the economic policies of the Trump administration. As an example, alimex announced its decision to invest more in its US operations, even though it is more expensive to sell there.
In November 2018 Deutsche Welle visited alimex GmbH in Willich. Theiy focused on the question of how our company reacts to the punitive tariffs in force since June 2018 and how we position ourselves for the future in view of the ever-increasing global economic challenges.
In the 12/2018 issue of the Economic magazine, the magazine reports how Donald Trump’s tariffs revolutionizes the economy and how entrepreneurs on three continents are coming to terms with the change. Our CEO reports on the challenges that Trump’s Politics poses to alimex as a medium-sized company, but also what opportunities it offers and why it is dangerous for US companies.
In the 12/2018 journal of the Aluminium Times, a company portrait was published on alimex. The author of the article visited alimex in October 2018 and describes his impressions. Further details of alimex and their products are presented.
alimex was also visited the by specialist magazine Light Age Metal in October 2018. In the December 2018 issue, the magazine presents a company portrait about alimex and further details how alimex works and what makes alimex products so special.
In January 2019, the trade magazine PROZESSWÄRME (PROCESS HEAT) visited our site in Willich and interviewed our CEO Dr Philip Grothe. In the interview, which appeared in issue 1/2019, he talks about aluminium as a material which is driving innovation, as well as about the current challenges faced by the aluminium industry. alimex was one of the companies profiled in the 44th issue of the WIR magazine (Business development magazine for entrepreneurs of Willich city) for the “two worlds” cover story. The CEO of alimex, Dr Philip Grothe, and HR Director, Matthias Meinburg-Blau, talked about what alimex is doing to get trainees and professionals into the company
An article on aluminium components has been published in the trade journal KEM-Konstruktion. It explains why the material needs to be optimised for design applications and how alimex does this at its site in Willich. Application areas which aluminium components are suitable for are also described.
The rollout for the db19, an autonomous electric race car, took place in May 2019. This racing car was designed and built by students of the Technical University of Munich. alimex is the premium sponsor of the project and supplies various components made of high-strength and dimensionally stable aluminium. The Westdeutsche Zeitung reported on this commitment and the special features of the race car.
In the May issue of the magazine of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mittlerer Niederrhein a portrait of alimex was published in the category “Brand Niederrhein”. An editor visited alimex in Willich, and our CEO Dr. Philip Grothe explained in which industries alimex products are used and why aluminium is suitable for so many applications.
In July 2019 an editor of the Handelsblatt visited alimex in Willich. In the course of her visit, she had a conversation with our CEO Dr. Philip Grothe as well as one of our proprietors, Christiane Springmeier. The main topic of this conversation was the history of alimex and how the company overcame its biggest crisis.
